First People
Knock my socks off! A site "dedicated to all First People of the America's, and Canada, better known as Turtle Island. This is a child friendly, educational site about American and Canadian Indians" with "over 1300 Native American Legends online" and plans to add more. Wow! Also where I got the bear and hummingvird clip art for the site.

We feature major sections on Nations and Peoples, Documents and Materials, Geographic Regions and a Picture Gallery of selected images. Begun in April, 2007, we currently have 950 content pages, 970 media files, and 122 registered contributors.

Indian Country Communications, Inc. is an independent, Indian-owned, reservation based business located on the Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe Reservation in Northern Wisconsin and is one of the few tribally oriented publications that is not owned, or politically controlled by a tribal government. NFIC was first published as a national Native newspaper in 1986.

Last Native Speaker of Eyak Language Dies at 89
Local filmmaker Laura Bliss Spaan worked with linguist Michael Krauss for years documenting the Eyak language. Marie Smith Jones, the last known speaker of Eyak, died in January of 08. The documentary Spaan and Krauss made is called More than Words.
